Tim and I recently went on a trip to Alabama and had the opportunity to stay in an old resort, The Grand Hotel in Fairhope Alabama.
When your in the south the first plant that always amazes me are the Live Oak trees. Its astonishing how a tree can get so big when it has to grow in the extreme heat and survive seasonal hurricanes.
I also got to see some plants that I grew this year planted in beds, but also saw some that I haven't planted in several years.
1. The first were the beds around the resort were all bordered with Evolvulus blue daze. If you have never tried this dainty little flower I highly recommend it. What struck me as different is that I usually suggest it for the shade or at least partial shade....however at the resort it was growing in the full sun and thriving.
2. The second plant of interest that caught my eye was what at first glance I thought was a Hyacinth Bean or a Runner Bean. But it actually was a Clerodendrum thomsoniae "Bleeding Heart Vine". I have grown both of these years ago, but seeing the vine reminded me of just how beautiful and fast growing they can be.
So!! Look for both the bleeding heart vine and the hyacinth bean vine at C&H for spring 2020
3. Then I couldn't not add a picture of the amazing Live Oak tree that was just one of many that were growing on this property.
Live Oaks are so beautiful and amazing.
